​If you’ve experienced abuse in a faith-based care setting, it's important to know that support is available. Several religious institutions have welcomed the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care and have established their own processes for dealing with historic cases. Learn more about how to report abuse, access resources, and begin the healing journey on this page.

SNAP Aotearoa New Zealand - Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests also provides peer support for individuals harmed by religious or institutional authorities, including clergy, teachers, and coaches.

Anglican Church

​Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Anglican Church who wish to engage with the Church about that abuse are encouraged to get in touch with with church

Anyone wishing to make a current complaint can contact the Ministry Standards Commission registrar

Anglican Family Care
Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in Anglican Family Care can contact them here:
Catholic Church

Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Catholic Church are encouraged to​ get in touch with the National Office for Professional Standards.

Methodist Church

​​​Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Methodist Church can contact the church's General Secretary

Arise Church

As guided by Arise’s Child & Young Person Safety and Protection Policy, any claims of abuse can be escalated to the Church board, the NZ Police and  Oranga Tamariki as required.

Gloriavale Christian Community

​​​Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse from the Gloriavale Christian Community can contact the Gloriavale Leavers Support Trust for support and how to move forward.

 

Jehovah's Witness

There is no current process for historic claims with Jehovah Witness.

  • For allegations of abuse - please report these to the NZ Police and  Oranga Tamariki as required.

Open Home Foundation

Anyone who is a survivor of Open Home Foundation can contact the agency to make a claim.​​​​

Presbyterian Church

​​​Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Presbyterian Church can contact the churches Complaints and Disputes Manager to discuss your case.

​​Salvation Army

Anyone who is a survivor of historic abuse in the Salvation Army can contact them here.
