Dilworth School Trust

Auckland’s Dilworth School has announced it will pay financial compensation to those who have come forward as having suffered abuse by their staff.  This is an unprecedented move for a New Zealand school, after over a hundred former students have filed criminal complaints alleging that they were sexually abused by staff whilst under Dilworth’s care. The Board also commissioned an Independent Inquiry in 2022 to establish an understanding of the causes, nature and extent of the abuse experienced by former students at Dilworth School, the School’s response to complaints of abuse at the time, and the adequacy of the policies and procedures in place at the School today. The Independent Inquiry Report was published on 18 September 2023 and can be accessed here
